Oh my! He was one of my idols. Well, ten year old kids reading their big brother's or father's racing mags in the mid sixties would probably all choose him as their favorite! I cannot tell you how many times i tried to draw this Lotus! I probably tried it on every photograph in a racing magazine that i could get my hands on. You did a really sweet job on this, Lyle. Your ability to get value changes that show the curves of tires and body parts with this stippling technique is outstanding! This makes for such a great presentation. Another great example of your car art and a beautiful piece of work!
I must say the sharpie markers work pretty well in this image, to be honest, I wasn't really a fan of the "grainy" look in your other pictures (liked your style before more, but that's a matter of taste), but here it's awesome.
I appreciate that very much. I was five when he passed but knew of his great talent and influence as I grew up. Who knows how much he could have accomplished had it not been for the accident. At the time of his death he had won more F-1 races and captured more poles than anyone.
