Lotus and Clark by Lyle462 Lotus and Clark by Lyle462
Another great race driver who left us too early in life. Jim Clark and the Lotus he made famous. (Drawn with Sharpie markers)

Thank you. It's sad how his career/life ended so early. Imagine the records he would have shattered had he lived on.

Oh my!
He was one of my idols. Well, ten year old kids reading their big brother's or father's racing mags in the mid sixties would probably all choose him as their favorite!
I cannot tell you how many times i tried to draw this Lotus! I probably tried it on every photograph in a racing magazine that i could get my hands on.
You did a really sweet job on this, Lyle.
Your ability to get value changes that show the curves of tires and body parts with this stippling technique is outstanding!
This makes for such a great presentation.
Another great example of your car art and a beautiful piece of work!

Thank you! That means a lot coming from you. I don't know what took me so long in drawing Jimmy Clark. Sometimes I can't see the forest for the trees ya' know.

I had a toy model when I was wee little, good times good times. Great job, I see you`ve taken up more pointilism. Probably the most time consuming, but the end result is well worth it.

Very nice work Lyle. Iconic car and driver. This Lotus will always be the image that first pops to mind when I think of F-1.

I must say the sharpie markers work pretty well in this image, to be honest, I wasn't really a fan of the "grainy" look in your other pictures (liked your style before more, but that's a matter of taste), but here it's awesome.

I appreciate that very much. I was five when he passed but knew of his great talent and influence as I grew up. Who knows how much he could have accomplished had it not been for the accident. At the time of his death he had won more F-1 races and captured more poles than anyone.
