Negative Camaro by Lyle462 Negative Camaro by Lyle462
This is going to be kind of hard to follow so here goes. I just finished the drawing on the right. My goal was to draw what a photo negative of the car would look like. In other words, draw the car where the light values are dark and the dark values are light. After completing the drawing I scanned it into my computer using imaging software. In short...I drew the image on the right using pencil. The image on the left was created by inverting the values of my drawing on the right. Confusing huh! HA
Not as complicated as it sounds but it's a great way of checking my drawing technique.

My pleasure.... Ah, Time I've got too much of, but patience on the other hand...... I've got patience to certain things, unfortunately doing this would be low XD.

if you did it with pencil and no tricks with photoshop then
this is very well done. So smooth are the looks on the
negative drawing.

Yep. I drew the one on the right by hand. I just coverted the drawing to a negative on the left using software. It's a good way to check how smooth the gradients are in my shading. You could say it's a double negative.LOL

Draw the one on the left and you could mount them side by side for a Warhol thing! But seriously, good work.

I'd say your technique is right `bout dead on, my friend!! :onfire:
I think the same thing happens as one moves thru the 5th dimension...
only it flashes like a strobe!! :sprint:
(btw, i flipped it to neg w/ IrfanView and yessir, it worked AGAIN)
i'm easily amused....

Easily amused...you and me both. What sort of knucklehead decides to draw a negative of something anyway.HA

Okay! Now you're just showing off!
Geeze, Lyle...this is really getting a Camaro drawing the hard way!
I think an exercise like this would push me over the edge!
But it sure works well, and you were able to get the digital rendition on the left with a lot of even dark values, too.
That is just amazing to me, that you could execute a negative drawing like that and get such great results.
It's a really stunning piece of work!

Thanks Dan. Sometimes you eat the bear, sometimes the bear eats you. I finally got a bite out of the beast this time. I appreciate you having a look. It definitely pushed my mind in terms of how to lay out a drawing. It was fun though.
