Well, I wanted to comment on this picture a long time ago, but I never knew what to write, but now I'll do it
I really have to say, I've seen so many good drawings before, but nothing special most of the time, but I never saw a drawing that impressed me so much. I don't know what it is, that makes this picture so special, but you did it perfektly...
Btw. I always thought he didn't win a race last year
LOL! You're correct. He didn't win a single race last year. Guess I should fix that huh. I appreciate the kind words about the drawing. I was very patient with this one. I didn't keep track of how long it took but I just kept building values very slowly. I used a cotton swab for the majority of the shading plus the smooth bristol paper made for a nice finish to the piece.
Yes, not so much of an Alonso fan really. He just sort of ended up being the subject of this one. Ayrton Senna was my favorite of all time. As far as current drivers go, I don't really have a standout favorite. I'm just a huge fan of the sport. It's hard to narrow it down.
Oh my! I love the close cropped composition with so many design elements coming in and out of the picture plane at interesting angles. Your proportions are great, and once again your foreshortening is very convincing. You have your full range of values here working for you here. And stellar use of value changes to show all the the planes and contours once again. The fade to light as that lion logo comes up and then curves away from the viewer is very convincing and sets up the helmet very well. This is a very strong piece of work! It's another sterling piece of work from you once again!
